Our client, a regional European asset management is looking for a Valuation Oversight Manager to oversee the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of asset valuations across a diverse portfolio of public and private market funds. This role plays a critical part in ensuring robust valuation governance, regulatory compliance, and high-quality reporting within a controlled environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers to maintain best-in-class valuation practices and support key decision-making processes and will support the team for a few months during some internal transition.
 
The Role:
 

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and consistent validation and sign-off of asset valuations across a range of public and private market funds, including liquid assets, Private Debt and Fund of funds strategies.
  • Maintain and enhance the valuation review framework of the AIFM, ensuring robust controls and governance are in place and operating effectively.
  • Oversee the performance and compliance of independent appraisers and service providers, including SLA monitoring and service quality assessment.
  • Support the organisation and performance of initial and ongoing due diligences for valuation independent appraisers, as requested by the group and the regulators (including the preparation of the due diligence plan, as well as the preparation of the visit, doing due diligence sessions and preparation of the final report.) Report to the Supplier Oversight Committee.
  • Support preparation and presentation of valuation reports and significant valuation events to the Valuation Committee, Management Board and Fund Board.
  • Collaborate closely with Fund Accounting, Investment, and Legal teams to ensure alignment on valuation matters and fund documentation.
  • Manage the annual audit process for asset valuations, ensuring efficient coordination with auditors and timely resolution of queries.
  • Maintain and update valuation policies and procedures, ensuring they reflect current regulatory and operational standards.
  • Participate in internal committees and governance forums, contributing valuation insights and ensuring compliance with AIFM responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain the effective use of technology and automation within the valuation function to improve efficiency, consistency between locations and enhance the control environment.

The Profile:

•     CFA, CAIA, ACCA (or equivalent) is a plus
  • Minimum 7 years’ proven experience in the valuation of liquid and illiquid assets, including derivatives (OTC and non-OTC), private debt, and fund-of-funds structures.
  • Knowledge of Luxembourg Alternative Fund regulations, AIFM governance, and valuation methodologies.
  • Sound fund accounting (Lux GAAP/IFRS) experience.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage global service provider relationships.
