Our client is a successful family-run business operating in the real economy sector. The company is entering an important phase of organizational development and is seeking a commercially minded Senior Financial Controller to strengthen its finance function.
Role Overview
This position combines core controlling responsibilities with a forward-looking, insight-driven mandate, supporting commercial decision-making. The role is well-suited to a finance professional with 5-7 years of experience who is comfortable operating close to the business, translating financial data into actionable insight, and supporting management with structured commercial analysis.
Reporting Line
Reports to: CFO / Finance Director
Key interfaces: CEO, Commercial & Sales teams, Operations
Your Role Financial Controlling, FP&A & Reporting
Prepare and manage annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and multi-year financial projections
Develop and maintain monthly management reporting packs, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and KPI dashboards
Analyse variances against budget and forecast, providing clear explanations and corrective insights
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial data across reporting cycles
Commercial & Sales Insight
Partner with sales and commercial teams to provide financial insight supporting pricing, margin management, and profitability analysis
Support business cases for new commercial initiatives, supplier agreements, and promotional activity
Develop sales performance dashboards (by customer, product, brand, channel) to support commercial decision-making
Analyse contribution margins, cost drivers, and volume effects across trading and distribution activities
Stock, Inventory & Working Capital
Monitor and analyse inventory levels, stock turnover, obsolescence risk, and working capital efficiency
Support valuation of inventory in line with accounting standards and internal policy
Work closely with operations and sales to align stock planning with commercial forecasts
Systems, Process & Controls
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of controlling processes and internal controls
Support finance-related system initiatives (including implementation of a new ERP reporting system and data structures) to enhance transparency and usability
Ensure documentation of key controlling processes and reporting methodologies
Your Profile Experience & Background
5-7 years of professional experience in controlling, FP&A, or financial analysis roles
Exposure to trading, distribution, wholesale, industrial, or commercially driven environments strongly preferred
Experience working with inventory-heavy or margin-sensitive business models is an advantage
Prior involvement in budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting is essential
Technical Skills
Strong financial analysis and modelling capability
Solid understanding of P&L drivers, working capital, and balance sheet mechanics
Confident user of ERP systems and Excel; experience with BI or reporting tools is a plus

Commercially curious with a strong business-partnering mindset
Structured, analytical, and detail-oriented, while able to prioritise effectively
Clear communicator, able to translate numbers into insight for non-finance stakeholders
Hands-on, pragmatic, and comfortable in a growing, evolving finance function
Language Requirements
Fluent German and/or French is required
Professional working proficiency in English is essential
Luxembourgish is an advantage but not mandatory
