HR Manager
International Banking institution – Luxembourg



About the Opportunity

Our client is a leading international banking group with a strong European footprint. As part of the continued development of its Human Resources function, we have been mandated to identify an experienced HR (Senior) Manager to support the Head of Human Resources across a broad range of strategic and operational HR activities.

This is a senior generalist position offering significant exposure across the full employee lifecycle, recruitment, compensation, payroll, HR operations, regulatory compliance and employee relations. The successful candidate will act as a trusted HR partner to management while helping ensure the delivery of a high-quality HR service across multiple European entities.

The role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, multicultural banking environment with responsibility extending across Luxembourg and several European branches.

The Role
  • Partner with business leaders throughout the recruitment lifecycle, from workforce planning and sourcing through to offer negotiation and onboarding.
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes while ensuring compliance with internal governance and local regulatory requirements.
  • Support the Head of HR in delivering the HR strategy and provide operational leadership across all HR activities.
  • Oversee HR administration throughout the employee lifecycle, ensuring accurate maintenance of HR systems, personnel records and employment documentation.
  • Coordinate monthly payroll activities with external providers, validating payroll data, compensation changes and employee benefits.
  • Support annual salary reviews, benchmarking exercises and remuneration initiatives in line with internal policies and regulatory expectations.
  • Manage HR reporting, workforce analytics and management information for senior leadership, Group HR and governance bodies.
  • Coordinate learning and development activities, including mandatory regulatory training, external training programmes and government training subsidies.
  • Ensure HR policies, procedures and employee handbooks remain aligned with Luxembourg labour law, European regulations and Group standards.
  • Advise managers and employees on employment matters, HR policies, career development and performance-related topics.
  • Manage sensitive employee relations matters including disciplinary processes, conflict resolution and employee investigations while ensuring compliance with labour legislation.
  • Support succession planning, talent management and workforce planning initiatives across the organisation.
  • Participate in local and international HR projects, contributing to continuous improvement of HR processes and systems.
  • Foster a positive employee experience while promoting a collaborative and compliant workplace culture.

The Person
Essential Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience within the banking or financial services sector.
  • University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of Luxembourg Labour Law and the Banking Collective Agreement.
  • Experience supporting international or multi-jurisdictional HR environments within Europe.
  • Solid expertise across recruitment, compensation and benefits, payroll, employee relations and HR operations.
  • Good understanding of employment-related data protection requirements and HR compliance.
  • Experience managing remuneration reviews, salary benchmarking and compensation processes.
  • Strong knowledge of HR systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Fluency in English and French is essential. Additional European languages such as German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish or Dutch would be considered an advantage.
