About the Opportunity The Head of Operations is responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously improving the organisation’s operational function. The role oversees day-to-day banking operations, operational controls, outsourced service arrangements, and client asset protection while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and internal governance requirements.
Working closely with senior management, the successful candidate will build an efficient and scalable operating model, manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and support the organisation’s growth and operational resilience objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement the operational framework covering payments, settlements, reconciliations, investment operations, client servicing, and custody-related activities.
Lead and develop the local operations team while coordinating with outsourced operational service providers.
Ensure operational activities are performed accurately, efficiently, and in line with regulatory obligations and internal policies.
Oversee outsourcing governance, including service level agreements, performance monitoring, issue escalation, and periodic reviews.
Act as the designated contact for operational matters with auditors, regulators, banking partners, and external vendors.
Ensure appropriate safeguarding, reconciliation, segregation, and reporting of client assets.
Manage operational risk controls, exception handling, dual-control processes, business continuity, and resilience measures.
Support operational readiness for new products, services, systems, and organisational initiatives.
Drive process improvement, automation, standardisation, and efficiency initiatives.
Provide operational reporting and insights to senior management and governance committees.
Candidate Profile
Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
Extensive experience in banking or financial services operations, ideally within a regulated environment.
Strong knowledge of payments, settlements, reconciliations, custody processes, and investment operations.
Experience managing outsourced or cross-border operational service models.
Good understanding of operational risk management, governance, and regulatory compliance.
Familiarity with private banking or wealth management operations is advantageous.
Proven ability to build teams, implement processes, and manage vendor relationships.
Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including interaction with senior management, auditors, and regulators.
Fluency in English is essential; additional languages are beneficial.
