FINANCE CONTROLLER – REAL ESTATE FUND PLATFORM – NT691
Our client is an international investment platform operating across Luxembourg, Amsterdam, and London. The company supports a broad portfolio of investment structures across real estate, infrastructure, private credit, and private equity, combining financial oversight, governance, legal coordination, and cash flow management throughout the investment lifecycle.
To strengthen its Luxembourg Finance & Control team, the firm is looking to appoint a Finance Controller. The successful candidate will take ownership of key financial processes across several jurisdictions, covering budgeting, financial close, cost control, payroll oversight, and internal governance.
Working closely with the Head of Finance and Control, the Finance Controller will also contribute to the continued development of the function through process improvements, automation initiatives, and the potential implementation of new accounting and technology solutions. The position offers meaningful responsibility and a clear path toward broader leadership within the Luxembourg Finance & Control function.
The Role: Budgeting & Financial Planning
Lead the annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting processes across the international platform
Coordinate and consolidate financial inputs received from different departments, entities, and geographical locations
Prepare detailed actual-versus-budget analyses and provide clear commentary on key variances
Translate financial results into practical insights and recommendations for senior management
Financial Closing & Reporting
Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing cycles for all entities within the scope of the role
Ensure financial information is complete, accurate, and delivered within the agreed reporting deadlines
Oversee journal postings, accruals, account reconciliations, and intercompany balances
Review balance sheet reconciliations and analyse significant movements within the profit and loss accounts
Maintain appropriate supporting documentation for financial balances and transactions
Improve and standardise the closing timetable across the different jurisdictions
Act as a key control point to ensure compliance with applicable accounting principles and internal reporting standards
Cost Management
Supervise the complete accounts payable process across the relevant entities, from invoice receipt through to payment
Strengthen controls around supplier onboarding, invoice verification, payment authorisation, and supporting documentation
Monitor operating costs and assess expenditure against approved budgets
Identify material variances, operational inefficiencies, and potential cost-saving opportunities
Internal Controls & Governance
Maintain and enhance financial control processes, particularly in relation to payroll, personnel expenses, travel costs, and intercompany recharges
Coordinate the monitoring and administration of insurance arrangements across the investment portfolio
Ensure finance procedures and control activities are clearly documented and consistently applied
Support internal and external audits by providing complete, accurate, and well-organised financial information
The Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
A professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or CPA would be considered an advantage
At least 5 years of relevant experience in financial control, budgeting, accounting, or a comparable finance function
Previous exposure to investment management, fund administration, or an international financial services environment would be highly relevant
Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial closing, and cost-control processes
Advanced Excel skills and practical experience working with accounting or ERP systems
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and explain key findings clearly
Excellent organisational abilities and confidence managing several priorities simultaneously
High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to financial controls and documentation
Proactive and solutions-oriented, with the ability to take ownership of responsibilities
Fluent in English; knowledge of another European language would be considered an advantage
