About the opportunity We are mandated by a leading global private markets investment manager, who is establishing a new Luxembourg AIFM, as part of its next phase of European growth. The firm manages capital for a blue-chip institutional client base worldwide and is expanding its European platform to support the rollout of evergreen and ELTIF solutions.
The Luxembourg entity will launch with a meaningful seeded portfolio (circa EUR 1.5bn of closed-end AIF assets) and a clear multi-year plan to scale AUM, product capability, and headcount across EMEA.
This is a true build opportunity for a senior Conducting Officer – Portfolio Management, who wants influence, pace, and ownership. You will help shape the governance, operating model, and control framework from day one - working closely with a high-calibre international leadership team and top-tier external counsel.
The Role:
Monitor the portfolio management activities of the US domiciled delegated portfolio management entity in accordance with the Luxembourg domiciled fund’s investment strategy, objectives and regulatory limits.
Conduct ongoing fund performance analysis, asset allocation reviews, and risk assessments.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements (incl. AIFMD), and CSSF standards.
Take part in new fund launches (e.g. reviewing AIF investment policies)
Support the creation and review of investment guidelines for new fund launches, ensuring new portfolios are launched within expected launch timeframes.
Oversee the ongoing management of investment guidelines and key contract provisions, ensuring proper system documentation and control.
Develop and manage systematic mechanisms for capturing and monitoring investment guidelines, construction targets, and rationale documentation.
Prepare and present regular investment reports and performance updates to the AIFM board, investors, and senior management.
Liaise with external stakeholders including fund administrators, custodians, depositaries, auditors, and legal advisors.
Participate in global investment committee meetings for investments relating to the company’s Luxembourg funds.
Monitor liquidity management, capital calls, distributions, and valuation processes in coordination with other internal teams.
Report accordingly to the other Conducting Officers, as appropriate.
Build a sustainable competitive advantage to the Company by fully integrating compliance management in daily business activities, through effective risk analysis and mapping.
Champion digital transformation in coordination with internal technology and data strategy teams.
Institutionalize workflows to reduce key person risk, expand system capabilities, and support the firm's ambitious growth trajectory.
Participate in change management efforts, education initiatives, and training to drive adoption of standardized processes and emerging best practices.
Monitor the regulatory, contractual and internal limits and measures for the funds managed by the AIFM entity.
The person: Must-have:
Between 8-10 years of experience in private markets or portfolio management with exposure to private market asset classes.
Have an Excellent knowledge of the Luxembourg regulatory environment for investment funds & firms as well as relevant European regulation (such as AIFMD, MiFID II, GDPR, AML directives etc.).
Excellent understanding of private markets and the developments within this space.
Technical and commercial skills to navigate complex situations and manage senior stakeholders internally and externally.
Highly professional, self-motivated, self-responsible, high integrity, and good analytical, influence and communication skills.
Understanding of working within a global organization and ability to be flexible in terms of hours in order to coordinate with team members across time zones
Bachelor or master degree in finance, economics, or a related field
Languages: English required, French and German desirable.
Nice-to-have:
Certifications: CFA, CAIA or CQF desirable.
