Location: Luxembourg
Sector: Global private markets / asset management
Employment type: Permanent
Our client is a leading international private markets investment manager, investing in private equity, private debt, real estate and infrastructure through sophisticated fund and bespoke mandate structures. Operating across multiple fund domiciles and jurisdictions, they combine the discipline of a regulated financial institution with the pace and agility of a high‑growth, entrepreneurial business.
They are looking for an experienced AML Senior Lead to act as a central pillar of their global AML / CDD function, covering both Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Assets (KYA). In this role you will own the most complex cases, drive global project delivery around digitalized due diligence, and serve as a trusted escalation point for sensitive matters across their investor and asset base.
Your responsibilities
- Act as senior escalation point for complex, high‑risk or strategically significant KYC/KYA files involving flagship clients, high‑profile investors and atypical asset structures.
- Exercise independent judgement on layered ownership structures, cross‑border investors and complex private markets transactions, reaching clear, compliant conclusions under time pressure.
- Lead end‑to‑end global KYC/KYA projects: from scoping and design through implementation and post‑implementation review, coordinating across jurisdictions, time zones and business lines.
- Drive the digitalization and automation of investor onboarding and due diligence workflows, working closely with internal technology teams and outsourced service providers.
- Represent AML/CDD in senior governance forums; prepare and present clear positions to executive stakeholders, investment leadership, boards, committees and regulators.
- Build strong relationships with investment and marketing teams to ensure KYC/KYA requirements are embedded without becoming a barrier to business, acting as both gatekeeper and business enabler.
- Set and enforce performance expectations for outsourced KYC/KYA providers, ensuring quality, accuracy and turnaround times meet internal standards.
- Own the continuous improvement of KYC/KYA policies, procedures and risk frameworks in line with AML/CFT regulation, FATF guidance and the firm’s risk appetite, leveraging digitalization and AI opportunities.
Your profile
- Around 8-12+ years of post‑qualification experience in asset management and/or private markets, in AML, compliance or regulatory roles; legal qualification is strongly valued.
- Deep, hands‑on AML/CFT expertise with strong CDD exposure; KYA experience on private markets assets and fund structures is a clear differentiator.
- Proven track record handling high‑stakes escalations and making well‑reasoned decisions on sensitive client or asset situations.
- Experience engaging confidently with executive‑level stakeholders and, ideally, regulators or supervisory bodies.
- Sharp analytical skills, able to decompose complex legal and ownership structures and articulate risk and conclusions in a structured way.
- Demonstrated project management capability across multi‑stakeholder, cross‑functional and cross‑border initiatives.
- Digitally fluent, tech‑savvy and clearly AI‑enthusiastic: comfortable working with compliance technology platforms and data environments, and curious about how agentic AI can transform KYC/KYA.
- Strong communicator with presence: able to go beyond high‑level talk, provide substance and detail, and hold a position under scrutiny.
- Career history showing solid tenures (3–4 years or more) and clear impact, with well‑explained transitions.
- Dynamic, entrepreneurial mindset: highly productive, fast‑paced, hungry to “make things happen” and genuinely motivated to improve processes and operating models.
What sets you apart
- Experience within global private markets or sophisticated asset management environments, ideally with Luxembourg / Guernsey / Cayman fund domiciles.
- Direct exposure to structures such as SCSp, RAIF, SICAV‑RAIF and SMA arrangements.
- Prior ownership of transformation roles, strategic system implementations or digitalization programs in AML/CDD.
- Clear examples of using or championing AI and automation to improve AML effectiveness and efficiency.
What’s on offer
You will join a high‑calibre international team in a growing private markets platform where results are recognized and rewarded. The environment is collaborative, fast‑moving and intellectually demanding, with strong exposure to senior decision‑makers and complex cross‑border work. The firm offers:
